Someone has been able to send out mass spam PM's without being approved as a member. Reported names are LadyAdministrator and LadyRoot . I'm working on fixing this problem.

We can set it up that "validating" members can't PM anyone. I wish we could just limit them to PM'ing Admins, but that doesn't seem possible. To be safe, for now I'm turning off all validating member PMs for now...

Thanks, Randy. I was looking for that option, but couldn't figure it out.

similar issues going down at librivox and a couple other places. they chose to send out noreply emails about it as well, as many members will receive a 'new pm' message and click through the login that way -- *before* they have a chance to read a notice such as this on the board.

peace

Thanks for that, incon.

I had taken the extreme measure of deleting all messages sent by the spammers from the database, so it's a non-issue.

I know on at least one version of the program that you could allow new people to contact admins only - it was probably something you had to switch on. Anyway, I bet all this problem had something to do with why my password wasn't working because I know I was using the correct password.
